Families First Coronavirus Response Act Pay Codes
Due to the current pandemic, the FFCRA requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. These provisions will apply from the effective date through December 31, 2020. The specified reasons are listed below:
Generally, the Act provides that covered employers must provide to all employees:
A covered employer must provide to employees that it has employed for at least 30 days:
The Problem:
These 3 items will need to be tracked using 3 separate pay codes and this can cause an issue with some of our standard users as they are unable to create new pay codes or modify existing ones to track these situations.
The Solution:
To help our customers in these trying and uncertain times Lathem will give all customers 3 new non-work pay codes outlined below:
FFCRA Family Leave – This pay code will have a default modifier set at .666666667, and this modifier will be able to be overridden by the customer.
FFCRA Sick Leave- This pay code will have a default modifier set a 1, as this type of leave is guaranteed full pay for the employee.
FFCRA FMLA - This pay code will have a default modifier set at .666666667, and this modifier will be able to be overridden by the customer as they have the option to pay the employee at their full pay rate.
These new pay codes should be mapped based on the payroll item codes supplied by your payroll service company. Note: If you are unsure of how to map these pay codes to your payroll export contact your payroll service provider.
